C’est à Château-Thierry qu’est né le 8 janvier 1621 Jean de la Fontaine. Pour lui rendre hommage, cette ville, située aux confins de la Picardie et de la Champagne, propose depuis une vingtaine d’années un festival joliment pluridisciplinaire. Théâtre et musique de l’époque baroque sont évidemment à l’honneur. La soprano Mathilde Etienne chante ainsi des œuvres de Scarlatti pendant que le récitant Léo Messe lit des extraits de la correspondance du compositeur avec Ferdinand de Medicis (le 1er juin). L’Ensemble Lunaisiens propose de son côté une version des Madrigaux de Gesualdo avec jeux de cloches et de lumières (la création lumières est signée Nathalie Perrier). Des projets alternatifs et prometteurs qui font du Festival Jean de la Fontaine une étape décalée mais très réjouissante sur la route des festivals.
