Ancien élève et disciple de Jordi Savall, pionnier du mouvement baroque en France, Jean-Louis Charbonnier est une personnalité incontournable de la viole de gambe. Associé au tournage du film d’Alain Corneau " Tous les Matins du Monde ", en qualité d’assistant musical et professeur de musique des acteurs, il s’est lancé dans le projet gigantesque d’enregistrer l’intégrale des œuvres pour viole de gambe et basse continue de Marin Marais. Au total : 593 pièces qui feront l’objet de 21 disques au total. Commencée en 1991, cette épopée discographique comprend aujourd’hui 15 enregistrements dont le dernier coffret (consacré à la fin du Premier Livre) vient de sortir chez Ligia Digital. Entouré des amis de son Ensemble Baroque Marin Marais, Jean-Louis Charbonnier lançait aussi l’an passé à Paris, à l’occasion de la célébration du 350ème anniversaire de la naissance de son compositeur préféré, le premier Festival Marin Marais. Pour cette deuxième édition, la programmation propose onze concerts à l’Oratoire du Louvre où la musique de Marais fait volontiers écho à celle de Bach, revisitées tour à tour par Paolo Pandolfo (viole de gambe), le 10 à 20h30 ; Gilbert Bezzina (violon) et Arnaud De Pasquale (clavecin), le 11 à 17 h ; Joël Pontet (clavecin) et Philippe Allain-Dupré (flûte), le 16 à 20h30 ; ou encore Patrick Bismuth (violon), le 23 à 20h30 ou Claire Gardielli, le 24 à 16h. Jean-Louis Charbonnier, seul en scène, ou en petit ensemble, sera quant à lui sur scène à trois reprises, le 10 à 16h, le 17 à 20h30, le 18 à 17h et le 24 à 20h30. À signaler enfin, la soprano Agnès Mellon qui ouvre le festival dans un programme intitulé « Voix et dévotion », le 9 à 20h30.
