Ils sont Allemands, Britanniques, Autrichiens, Belges, Français, Hollandais, Serbes et Turcs. Tous sont frais émoulus d’écoles de théâtre, accomplissant depuis peu leurs premiers pas d’artistes professionnels. Felix Rothenhaüsler, Lydia Ziemke, Sarantos Zervoulakos, Ruud Gielens, Fabrice Murgia, Jacques Albert, Matthieu Cruciani, Ilayden Boer, Milos Lolic et Maral Ceranoglu sont les dix jeunes metteurs en scène invités à participer à l’édition 2010 du festival Premières de Strasbourg. Un festival qui tente, depuis 2005, de « répondre concrètement à quelques interrogations actuelles ». Qu’en est-il du théâtre en Europe aujourd’hui ? Quels en sont les nouvelles figures, les dernières tendances, les futurs artisans ? Comment ce théâtre se transmet-il de génération en génération ? Fait-il toujours actualité ? Sans souci d’exhaustivité, les organisateurs de ce rendez-vous pré-estival souhaitent ainsi « être là, ici et maintenant, au bon moment, juste quand l’œuvre est prête, au seuil de l’esquisse, jusqu’à son achèvement ». Ceci, afin de sentir quelque chose du théâtre à venir : « comme un éclat, un instant présent où, en cinq jours cette année, dix spectacles venus des quatre coins d’Europe fabriquent devant nos yeux une nouvelle perception du monde actuel, dans la diversité de chaque tradition ».
