Les soirées jazz du festival de Radio France Montpellier sont toujours des réussites. En plus d’être ouvertes gratuitement à tous, elles réservent une pluie de découvertes captivantes. A l’image du jeune pianiste turc Murat Öztürk dont le dernier disque “Crossing my bridge” révèle un brillant talent de compositeur ou de l’Infinity Quintet des virevoltants frères Belmondo, le festival mélange avec habileté talents à suivre et musiciens célébrés. Côté révélation, le sextette toulousain Stabat Akish a de grandes chances de s’imposer comme le choc de cette quinzaine. Repérés par John Zorn qui a signé leur premier album, ils produisent un mix inédit entre Mingus et Prokoviev qui ne manque pas de piquant. A signaler enfin, côté français, l’excellent TRILOG réuni autour du guitariste David Chevallier, du saxophoniste Vincent Mascart et enfin du batteur Olivier Le Goas qui par ailleurs vient de signer sous son nom un magnifique album (« Sur les corps des klaxons » chez Rewind Records/anticraft) en quartet de luxe en compagnie du trompettiste Kenny Wheeler.
