Musicien spécimen, adepte du hautbois (et du cor anglais) dont il a su faire par la force de son discours musical un authentique instrument de jazz, Jean-Luc Fillon poursuit l’aventure de son festival. Une manifestation unique en son genre pariant sur l’idée simple et pourtant à sa façon révolutionnaire de la nécessité d’intégrer au jazz moderne les sons neufs d’instruments rares (dans le jazz en tout cas !). « Bien entendu, l’instrument ne peut en aucun cas suppléer à un discours musical défaillant! Pourtant, Steve Lacy était convaincu de l’importance du son de l’instrument comme vecteur et catalyseur de la pensée musicale du musicien, de la relation fusionnelle entre le musicien et son instrument. Inévitablement, l’instrument et l’instrumentiste se contaminent mutuellement; des réflexes digitaux, des attitudes corporelles finissent par influencer le discours musical. De nos jours, de nombreux artistes des instruments rares, passionnés par le Jazz, s’engagent à part entière dans cette musique avec de nombreux jeunes adeptes qui abordent désormais de manière naturelle le jazz au violoncelle, harpe, basson, cor, hautbois… » explique Jean-Luc Fillon. Parmi ces musiciens « venus d’ailleurs », le violoncelliste Vincent Courtois en solo, Guillaume Kervel et ses steel-drums et duo avec la violoniste Rosalie Hartog, le flûtiste Carl Schlosser en trio, Jean-Luc Fillon en personne en duo avec l’accordéoniste Didier Ithursarry, en trio avec Joël Grare (percussions) et Véronique Wilmart (machines) ou avec Claude Barthélémy (oud, guitare) et Pablo Cueco (zarb), le bassoniste Brice Martin en trio (avec Médéric Collignon et Benat Achiary), ou encore Gilles Chabenat, spécialiste de la vielle à roue… Des sons neufs pour du sang neuf !
