Créé, en 1983, par Françoise Kohler Chevrot, le maire d’Enghien-les-Bains de l’époque, et le comédien Alain Léonard, le Festival Théâtral du Val-d’Oise s’est affirmé, en 27 ans, comme l’un des principaux rendez-vous des arts de la scène organisés en Ile-de-France. Durant 5 semaines, 32 spectacles (soit 131 représentations) seront ainsi présentés cette année, dans 52 villes et 77 structures culturelles du Val d’Oise. « Les enjeux de notre festival ne sont pas de s’affirmer comme un énième lieu ou temps de diffusion », déclare Bernard Mathonnat, directeur de la manifestation depuis 2009. « Nous avons, bien plus, l’ambition et la volonté de fédérer [les spectateurs] autour d’un moment exceptionnel de prise de risques artistiques. » Soucieux de positionner ce festival comme un acteur de production de niveau national, Bernard Mathonnat souhaite « œuvrer à la mise en valeur de nouvelles écritures scéniques », « réunir l’excellence artistique en [s’]appuyant sur la diversité et la complémentarité des lieux partenaires ».
Des vents venus d’Afrique subsaharienne
Après une édition 2009 qui plaçait le théâtre d’objets au cœur de sa programmation, le Festival Théâtral du Val-d’Oise met à l’honneur cette année des créations venues d’Afrique subsaharienne. Un tiers des spectacles de cette nouvelle édition seront ainsi en lien, de façon directe ou indirecte, avec cette région du monde. Le Malade imaginaire de Molière, mis en scène par Alain Gautré avec des comédiens-danseurs et des musiciens africains ; Au bord du fleuve Congo, du conteur Abdon Fortuné Koumbha Kaf ; Bones (Les Os) de Kay Adshead, par la compagnie sud-africaine Yorick ; Ouaga-Paris, de la compagnie burkinabè CréatureS… Ces spectacles portés par des vents venus d’ailleurs en côtoieront bien d’autres, notamment Une Chenille dans le cœur de Stéphane Jaubertie et Pour rire pour passer le temps de Sylvain Levey, les deux auteurs invités de cette édition 2010.
