Le 1er Janvier marqua jusqu’à la fin du XVIè siècle la date de la Fête de l’Âne, fête populaire et païenne. Depuis 2001, l’ensemble Obsidienne & Compagnie lui redonne souffle et vie dans la belle ville de Sens où il est installé. Les « Fêtes de l’Âne » deviennent alors l’occasion de valoriser le patrimoine architectural Sénonais, et pour Emmanuel Bonnardot et ses musiciens, spécialistes incontestés en France de la musique du Moyen-Âge et de la Renaissance, de faire connaître leur travail bien au delà du cercle fermé des amateurs éclairés de ces répertoires. « Cette 7ème édition nous fera voyager de l’Italie à la Chine, de l’Europe au Nouveau Monde, du Moyen Age à aujourd’hui… Autour de l’ensemble médiéval et Renaissance Obsidienne, les artistes internationaux – Wang Li (musique traditionnelle Chine), Le Vent du Nord (musique traditionnelle Québec) ou Anna Pietsch (danse contemporaine Allemagne), et les compagnons de route – la compagnie de danse Bassa Toscana, le comédien et metteur en scène Jean-Claude Mathon ou le Trio d’Ocrès -, offriront un brassage médiéval/traditionnel/contemporain, savant/populaire plein d’émotion, force vivante et créatrice d’une tradition véritable » annonce Emmanuel Bonnardot. Sa programmation fait se côtoyer musique, théâtre, littérature, poésie, peinture, architecture, danse, vidéo et même cuisine!
