« En commençant mon métier de comédien et au fil des rencontres, la question qui revenait régulièrement était : Comment en es-tu arrivé là ? A chaque fois, j’avais ce besoin d’expliquer ce chemin parcouru de mes différentes péripéties professionnelles exercées, comme pour conscientiser er valider mon évolution. » Ainsi Willy Claeyssens présente-t-il son « solo autobio(choré)graphique » où il se met en scène, lui, l’élève moyen issu d’une famille modeste, qui aurait dû, à en croire les déterminismes sociaux, devenir ouvrier. La liste des métiers qu’il a exercés tient de l’inventaire à la Prévert : peintre, poseur de portes, armurier, ouvrier chez Peau Douce, camelot, automate humain… jusqu’à ce que le théâtre le rattrape. Comme un chat qui retombe toujours sur ses pattes, Willy Claeyssens a fait de ses multiples vies un spectacle. Une façon de s’en sortir au terme d’un parcours élastique qui s’incarne dans le corps élastique du comédien, idoine pour « échouer, échouer encore », selon la jolie formule de Beckett. Le propre même de toute vie d’artiste.
