Musée d'Orsay / piano et danse
Créée en 1912 au Théâtre du Châtelet lors de la tournée des Ballets russes, la symphonie chorégraphique pour orchestre et chœur sans paroles Daphnis et Chloé adapte un roman de Longus, auteur de l’Antiquité gréco-romaine. Si la veine bucolique a inspiré à Ravel une œuvre chatoyante où se déploie tout le raffinement de sa science orchestrale, c’est au piano que la partition a été élaborée. La version de travail, publiée en 1910 pour prévenir les coupures que le compositeur redoutait de la part de Diaghilev, est présentée par Claire-Marie Le Guay au Musée d’Orsay, en contrepoint d’une exposition Manet / Degas qui ne pouvait faire l’impasse sur la danse. Cette réduction à la pensée musicale primitive de Ravel est chorégraphiée par Florent Melac, Sujet du Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, pour le couple de solistes qu’il forme avec l’Étoile nouvellement nommée Hannah O’Neill, dans une création qui resserre le propos dramaturgique autour des amants éponymes.
