La scène musicale française s’enrichit d’un nouveau rejeton, anti-héros de bonne famille au charme fou, réactivant de derrière son piano un art romantique, jazzy et désabusé de la chanson française à situer quelque part entre Gainsbourg et Sheller, ses deux références. Comme ses maîtres, Florent Richard apparaît d’abord comme un musicien entré en chanson presque par hasard, en passant, en visiteur… Pianiste, compositeur et arrangeur accompli, Florent Richard a en réalité dû se laisser convaincre par son éditeur de chanter lui-même ses propres chansons. Et s’il avoue, dans un pied de nez, « être passé à la chanson parce qu’il avait vu a la télé qu’on pouvait se taper plein de meufs et gagner de l’argent… », son souci est bien aussi celui de « se mettre au service d’un univers fait de mots, de musique et de chant…» confie-t-il. Et la magie est au rendez-vous. Avec son complice auteur Pierre Chazal, Florent Richard forme un tandem rare, habile et sensible donnant à chaque mesure le sentiment que les notes et les mots ont surgi dans l’instant et l’évidence d’un même geste, d’une même idée, d’un même feeling… « Si l’on a le sentiment que mes chansons sont celles d’un musicien qui chante, cela me fait très plaisir puisque ce sentiment colle parfaitement a la réalité de mon parcours de musicien. Je pense d’abord musique… » insiste-t-il. Pour prolonger la sortie de son album, Florent Richard s’installe pour trois soirs au Kiron, sur scène, où son flegme et son humour font merveille, avec ses fidèles amis musiciens Stanislas Augris à la batterie, Laurent Larcher à la contrebasse et Fabrice Theuillon au saxophone.
