Pour leur première venue à Perpignan le 12 avril, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, la Cappella Mediterranea et le Choeur de Chambre de Namur, font redécouvrir la Passion selon Saint-Jean avec laquelle Alessandro Scarlatti inaugure un genre alors nouveau en Italie, renouvelant la fonction liturgique avec le sens du théâtre d’un compositeur d’opéra. Le 14, Léo Warynski et Les Métaboles, l’une des meilleures formations vocales actuelles, donnent leur programme The Angels, où les extases baroques de Byrd, Palestrina et Purcell côtoient les ineffables décantations de Jonathan Harvey. Le 16, Paul Agnew et Les Arts Florissants restitueront les chromatismes des Répons pour l’Office des Ténèbres du Jeudi Saint, le sixième et dernier livre des madrigaux sacrés de Gesualdo. Mais le festival ne se limite pas au corpus savant. Le 8 il plonge dans le rite andalou avec une Misa flamenca reconstituée par Frédéric Tavernier-Vellas et sa compagnie, tandis que le lendemain, le public sera convié à une immersion arménienne. Autour de ces cinq concerts, le festival propose par ailleurs une vingtaine de rendez-vous et rencontres gratuites.
