Huit acrobates et danseurs se retrouvent sur le plateau nu, où le seul élément de scénographie est aussi imposant qu’incontournable : un panneau qui barre la scène, tel un mur dressé face au public. Il va s’agir pour les interprètes, dont les costumes se fondent presque dans la couleur de la scénographie, d’apprivoiser cet obstacle planté dans le sol sur lequel ils et elles évoluent : comment les corps peuvent-ils s’organiser pour en tirer parti ? Foreshadow utilise ainsi les portés, mais en émancipant les interprètes des figures connues et des rôles prédéterminés.
Conquérir l’espace, ensemble
Alexander Vantournhout explore ici deux façons dont la gravité s’exerce : il l’utilise dans les évolutions au sol, sur un plan horizontal, mais sa recherche se déploie aussi dans le plan vertical, et la présence du mur, dans ces élans vers le haut ou vers le bas, devient une force structurante. C’est ainsi que le sens de cette surface évolue : d’élément limitant le mouvement, il devient un agrès sur lequel il est possible de prendre appui pour construire les figures. Les interprètes s’entraident pour se déployer dans cet axe vertical : c’est l’occasion de démontrer la puissance de la coopération, force qui permet de franchir les obstacles.
