Le collectif F71, créé au sein du Jeune Théâtre National en 2004, a ceci de particulier qu’il fonde son travail scénique, feuilleton théâtral en trois épisodes, sur l’œuvre et la figure du philosophe Michel Foucault. « Ce n’est pas seulement une question de compréhension ou d’accord intellectuel, mais d’intensité, de résonance, d’accord musical » ainsi que le souligne Gilles Deleuze cité par les artistes. Forts de la circulation des idées et de l’échange des rôles que permet une organisation collective, les jeunes ont ressenti que la pensée de Foucault leur était adressée. « Il nous donne des clés pour interroger nos propres manières de voir. Réveiller le regard, c’est bien redonner à chacun la part active qu’il peut prendre au monde. » disent-ils. Et faire théâtre de cette œuvre implique la mise en forme subjective d’un lien particulier avec le public, à la fois intelligible et sensible. Une entreprise extraordinairement stimulante !
Le pouvoir des mots
Le premier volet, Foucault 71, salué en 2009 par le prix du jury du festival Impatience aux Ateliers Berthier du théâtre de l’Odéon, explore diverses formes d’engagement dans la vie publique à travers trois actions du philosophe en 1971 : la création du Groupe d’Information sur les Prisons, pour dénoncer les conditions de vie des détenus, le combat pour mener au sein d’une commission une contre-enquête sur le passage à tabac par la police du journaliste au nouvel Observateur Alain Jaubert, la mobilisation au sein du comité Djellali suite au meurtre du jeune Algérien de quinze ans par son concierge dans le quartier de la Goutte-d’Or. Le collectage et l’assemblage des prises de parole publique ainsi que la formidable énergie des comédiens dressent un portrait vigoureux du militantisme des intellectuels de l’après-mai 68. Le second volet, La Prison, porte sur le fonctionnement de la prison en tant qu’institution et se réfère bien sûr principalement à Surveiller et punir. Le troisième opus, Qui suis-je, maintenant ?, librement écrit à partir d’un texte de Foucault de 1977, La Vie des hommes infâmes, met en scène une collection foisonnante de personnages ordinaires, de diverses époques, en but au pouvoir politique. Ce texte se présente comme une préface d’un livre à paraître (jamais écrit) constituant une « anthologie d’existences » à ce point de collision entre hommes de la rue et pouvoir.
