La musique pour piano de Debussy reste le terrain d’expression privilégié des pianistes français, comme le rappellent ces deux récitals au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. D’abord, celui de François Chaplin, auteur d’une intégrale très remarquée de l’œuvre pour piano du compositeur de Pelléas et Mélisande, qui choisit ici de provoquer la confrontation amoureuse de sa musique (les Estampes, des Etudes…) avec celle de Chopin (Barcarolle en fa dièse majeur op. 60, plusieurs Etudes, le Nocturne en si majeur op. 62…). Debussy fut un admirateur fasciné de Chopin auquel il doit une part de la troublante sensualité de son univers pianistique. Ce concert est organisé par Colline en Ré, au profit de la Chaîne de l’Espoir. Deux jours plus tard, le jeune « vétéran » Jean-Yves Thibaudet, magnifique pianiste « d’exportation », présent sur les plus grandes scènes internationales depuis 20 ans (aux Etats-Unis particulièrement), nous livre son regard sur le livre II des Préludes pour piano. Après l’entracte, il quitte Debussy pour Brahms et la Sonate pour piano n° 3 en fa mineur op. 5.
