Comme il l’a déjà fait en avril dernier à l’occasion du Printemps des arts de Monte-Carlo, François-Frédéric Guy se lance de nouveau dans un éprouvant marathon beethovénien, une performance qu’il reconnaît lui-même comme « le projet le plus exaltant [qu’il se soit] proposé de réaliser ». Plus que le tour de force cependant, c’est la constance de l’attachement du pianiste à cette œuvre immense que vient souligner l’événement. À l’instar des plus grands interprètes qui, de Serkin à Brendel, ont toujours consacré à Beethoven une large part de leur intelligence, François-Frédéric Guy remet inlassablement sur le métier cette musique qu’il se plaît à constamment redécouvrir. De cette volonté de toujours repousser l’horizon de son interprétation témoigne la parution en 2006 (chez Naïve) de son enregistrement de la titanesque Sonate « Hammerklavier », huit ans après une première gravure de l’œuvre chez Harmonia Mundi. Comme l’explique le pianiste, « on ne se lasse pas des oeuvres éternelles et universellement connues comme la Clair de lune, l’Appassionata, ou même l’opus 111. Mais il faut également piocher dans ce tout qui ne comporte que beauté, nouveauté, éternité, même dans les opus que le public connaît moins ». À partir de février prochain, François-Frédéric Guy poursuivra son voyage en terres beethovéniennes avec une intégrale des concertos – en concert à la Salle Pleyel et en disques chez Naïve – en compagnie de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France et Philippe Jordan.
