Le Bal Blomet
Depuis quelques années, le pianiste Fred Hersch a trouvé au Bal Blomet un lieu privilégié pour faire entendre les différentes facettes de son esthétique. Comme nombre de pianistes, ce maître discret du jazz, admiré pour son sens harmonique et la sensibilité de son jeu, a une affection particulière pour le trio, comme est venu le rappeler en 2019 la publication d’un coffret de six disques enregistrés en une décennie dans cette formule. Pour ces concerts parisiens, Hersch retrouve deux musiciens d’exception qui sont aussi pour lui des complices de longue date, avec lesquels le niveau d’interaction et d’engagement promet d’être particulièrement élevé : le contrebassiste Drew Gress, avec qui il se produisait déjà en 1997 au Village Vanguard (un album live en témoigne), et le batteur Joey Baron, percussionniste exceptionnel chez qui la facétie musicale fait la paire avec la finesse des frappes et un sens du tempo renversant. Un grand trio, sans conteste.
