C’est naturellement l’un des grands événements lyriques de ce printemps musical parisien. Grand chef anglais passé maître dans l’art de donner des leçons de musique française aux français (Berlioz, Debussy, Bizet, Chabrier…), John Eliot Gardiner n’a pas oublié que le grand opéra allemand romantique par excellence, le Freischutz, créé à Berlin en 1821, chef-d’œuvre du genre Singspiel, « théâtre mêlé de chant, privilégiant le merveilleux dans un mélange de gaité et de terreur » (dixit Agnès Terrier), existait dans une version française traduite par Berlioz avec des récitatifs de sa plume. Une jolie façon de souligner ce que l’ouvrage de Weber doit à l’Opéra Comique français et en retour ce qu’il lui a apporté… Avec le Chœur Monteverdi et l’Orchestre révolutionnaire et romantique et dans les principaux rôles, Sophie Karthäuser, Andrew Kennedy, Virginie Pochon, Robert Davis, Matthew Brook… Dan Jemmett signe la mise en scène.
