Dur dur de répondre à la question : « qu’est-ce que la danse hip hop ? » ces temps-ci… Alors que le Centre Chorégraphique National de Créteil vient de fêter les trente ans du mouvement avec les grandes figures historiques qui ont façonné le courant en France (on regrette la quasi absence des femmes dans cette célébration), il est toujours important de qualifier ce dont on parle. Abderzak Houmi a choisi de parler de son art avec ses mots et ses gestes à lui, à travers une forme spectaculaire proche de la conférence dansée. Cette Forme Tout Terrain (FTT) s’adapte à la scène comme aux espaces non-conventionnels, et plonge le spectateur dans un voyage au cœur de l’esthétique hip hop et de ses codes. Les techniques, les figures, le vocabulaire… les racines du hip hop et les styles sont décryptés à l’aune du courant mais aussi de la démarche propre du chorégraphe, sur laquelle il appuie sa démonstration. Reste de cette incursion une certaine image du hip hop, un parcours initiatique dans les plis d’un univers artistique déjà marqué, qui prouve bien qu’il est, au-delà de l’artiste, multiple et complexe.
