Politiquement incorrect, provocateur et insolent, loufoque et sardonique, le roman d’Edgar Hilsenrath provoqua un véritable séisme lors de sa publication. L’histoire de Jakob Bronsky est aussi celle de son auteur, qui connut, après l’épreuve de la guerre en Europe et des persécutions, celle de l’émigration dans une société hostile, mercantile et cynique. L’Amérique déteste ceux qui, à l’instar de Jakob Bronsky, ont quitté la vieille Europe pour l’Eldorado occidental, mais Jakob Bronsky la déteste tout autant en retour, et il ne mâche pas ses mots !
Imaginer pour créer et non pour détruire
La compagnie Noob, laboratoire d’expérimentations poétiques, théâtrales et numériques, s’empare du récit sarcastique, drôle et tragiquement absurde de Bronsky. Avec, pour seuls accessoires, une table et quelques feuilles de papier, Rodolphe Congé et Lucie Boscher écrivent le quotidien de cet homme qui tente de se réconcilier avec un passé qui ne passe ni ne revient, puisqu’il ne parvient ni à se remémorer ni à se débarrasser de ses années de guerre et de déportation. « Ce spectacle est donc l’histoire d’une tentative de mise en résonnance de nos souffrances individuelles, qui tend vers le seul salut de notre humanité : la mise en mouvement de notre imagination à des fins de création, non de destruction. », dit son metteur en scène.
