« Je voulais écrire quelque chose sur le vingtième siècle, déclarait Gregory Burke en 2001, après le succès fulgurant de Gagarin Way, son premier texte. Je voulais écrire une pièce sur l’économie, étant donné que c’est le thème prédominant (le seul ?) dans la politique moderne et la seule véritable source de pouvoir dans notre époque de mondialisation croissante. Et enfin, je voulais écrire sur les hommes et notre infinie capacité à nous illusionner. » Huis clos explosif réunissant quatre hommes confrontés aux changements profonds d’un monde qu’ils ne comprennent plus (interprétés par Alain D’Haeyer, Jean-Pierre Duthoit, Gérald Izing et Nicolas Postillon), Gagarin Way présente deux ouvriers et un jeune vigile qui décident de séquestrer l’un des dirigeants de la multinationale qui les emploie. Cela afin de dénoncer leur exploitation, la mondialisation et les délocalisations. « Dans cette pièce tragiquement drôle et noire, confie Pierre Foviau, l’auteur manie avec humour les dérives les plus extrêmes de l’homme quand ce dernier est dépassé par l’idée du monde qu’il se fait. J’envisage un travail d’acteur particulier pour trouver l’urgence et la fragilité de ces personnages qui, chacun à sa façon, ont déjà perdu leur place. » Une urgence et une fragilité qui trouvent écho sur scène dans un univers de série B, un univers « où le rire s’étrangle dans le sang ».
