Alors que son frère Renaud, violoniste, faisait récemment la une de « Paris Match » au bras de Laurence Ferrari, le violoncelliste Gautier Capuçon forme aujourd’hui avec la pianiste Gabriela Montero un tandem au moins aussi passionnant à l’affiche du Théâtre des Champs-Elysées ! Musicienne hors normes, la jeune pianiste vénézuelienne Gabriela Montero est à la fois une interprète indiscutable des grandes œuvres du répertoire classique (elle a remporté la médaille de bronze au concours Chopin de Varsovie et est l’invitée des plus grands chefs : Gustavo Dudamel, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado…) mais aussi une authentique improvisatrice. La rencontre de ces deux musiciens généreux, ayant en commun d’avoir été marqués par leur rencontre avec Martha Argerich, devrait faire des étincelles dans la Sonate pour violoncelle et piano en do majeur op. 119 de Prokofiev, la Sonate pour violoncelle et piano n°2 en ré majeur op. 58 de Mendelssohn et Sonate pour violoncelle et piano en sol mineur op. 19 de Rachmaninov. Pour la petite histoire, sachez que la charismatique Gabriela Montero a eu le privilège de partager la scène avec Itzhak Perlman et Yo Yo Ma lors de la cérémonie d’investiture de Barack Obama le 20 janvier dernier à Washington…
