Peu de chanteurs baroques ont un timbre aussi reconnaissable. Chez le haute-contre Gérard Lesne, la finesse du grain s’associe à un travail toujours précis et analytique sur le texte. Loin des projections opératiques, sa voix convient parfaitement à l’atmosphère recueillie et douloureuse du programme proposé au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. L’interprétation des Stabat Mater de Caldara et de Bononcini permettra d’entendre comment deux compositeurs baroques italiens s’attèlent à cette forme musicale à la fois profonde et théâtrale. Les Vêpres brèves de Durante révèleront de leur côté toute la fraîcheur d’écriture de ce compositeur napolitain, dont l’œuvre est aujourd’hui tombée en désuétude. Comme à son habitude, Gérard Lesne s’entoure de son ensemble Il Seminario Musicale et d’une belle distribution de solistes, dominée par la soprano au timbre capiteux Véronica Cangemi.
