OPERA EN VERSION DE CONCERT / THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ÉLYSÉES
Créé il y a tout juste trois siècles à Londres, Jules César en Egypte est de nos jours l’opéra de Haendel le plus joué, avec un livret de Haym riche en péripéties amoureuses et des airs parmi les plus beaux écrits par Il Caro Sassone, régulièrement donnés en concert. Sous la direction de leur chef principal, Gianluca Capuano, Les Musiciens du Prince – Monaco, orchestre fondé par Cecilia Bartoli en 2016 avec le soutien de l’Opéra de Monte-Carlo, accompagnent la soprano italienne dans le rôle de Cléopâtre, qu’elle chante sur scène depuis une vingtaine d’années. Elle est entourée par trois des contre-ténors les plus en vue aujourd’hui. Carlo Vistoli incarne les élans passionnés de l’empereur romain. Max Emanuel Cencic endosse la vindicte de Ptolémée, le frère de la reine égyptienne. Kangmin Justin Kim assume la jeunesse androgyne de Sextus, aux côtés de Sara Mingardo, au contralto idéal pour les accents de deuil de sa mère, Cornélia, veuve de Pompée.
