Flux, passages, accélérations, circulations, contournements, détournements… Les mouvements urbains dessinent de secrètes chorégraphies où se reflètent les comportements collectifs et les champs de tension de la ville. Explorant depuis plusieurs années à travers la danse les interactions entre le matériel et l’immatériel, l’organique et le mécanique, Mette Ingvartsen s’aventure dans les interstices de nos lieux publics. « L’espace n’est pas seulement ce qui est entre les murs, l’espace n’est pas seulement le vide qui est entre nous, explique-t-elle. Le vide entre nous est plein de tension, de sensations, de connotations et de souvenirs, de codes culturels et de schémas comportementaux. » Pour composer Giant City, la chorégraphe a écouté les bruissements de la cité résonner dans les corps, les a reliés à des sensations physiques, à la spatialité de la mémoire. Sur le plateau nu, les huit danseurs bougent et sont bougés, transforment la scène en zone instable où les gestes, déplacements et métamorphoses rendent visible cet invisible mouvant de la ville.
