Antoine Dauvergne mérite bien ces Grandes Journées qui s’annoncent à sa mesure. Compositeur, violoniste virtuose, directeur des plus grandes institutions musicales de son époque, Dauvergne était une personnalité des plus influentes. Sa pièce-phare, Les Troqueurs, est imprégnée du style italien défendu par Rousseau, alors très en vogue. Pourtant, l’ensemble de son œuvre s’inscrit plus volontiers dans la continuité de celui qui fut son professeur de composition et, plus encore, son père spirituel : Jean-Philippe Rameau. Ces Grandes Journées sont nées d’une collaboration entre le Centre de Musique baroque de Versailles et le Palazzetto Bru Zane à Venise. Elles mettent en lumière les différents aspects de la vie artistique de Dauvergne.
Différents visages
Deux opéras comiques, Les Troqueurs et La Coquette trompée, seront interprétés par l’ensemble Amarillis. La Vénitienne, comédie lyrique au style composite, sera présentée par l’ensemble Les Agréments et le Chœur de chambre de Namur. Les Talens lyriques de Christophe Rousset se joindront à la fête pour donner Hercule mourant, une tragédie lyrique dans le sillage de Rameau. Voilà pour le versant compositeur. Le versant directeur d’opéra et programmateur n’est pas en reste. Le Concert spirituel d’Hervé Niquet proposera une soirée d’opéra avec un programme à la Dauvergne, fait de fantaisies à la mode — Grétry — et de découvertes — Sacchini. Enfin, la soirée « Paris virtuose » montrera que Dauvergne savait déplacer les foules. Il invitait les plus grands solistes à venir enflammer les salles de concerts en posant les jalons d’un genre naissant : le concerto.
