Ignatus est gros. Il a 69 kilos à perdre – enfin, c’est l’objectif premier. Il se sent envahi, étouffé dans son propre gras – enfin, c’est ce qu’on lui fait croire. De la Vénus de Willendorf à Louis Le Gros, aux corsets pour affiner la taille et aux magazines féminins, la pièce prend d’abord des airs de conférence historique et scientifique. Puis, à l’aide de dispositifs en tous genres et de jeux de rôle, les trois comédiens s’attèlent à reconstituer le quotidien des « gros » : ne pas rentrer sur les sièges, une espérance de vie qui diminue, les insultes, le harcèlement, la culpabilisation…
« J’ai honte, je suis monstrueux »
Surtout, à travers ces saynètes, sont dénoncés les travers d’un système qui n’accepte pas tous les corps. De l’absurdité du calcul de l’IMC qui profite surtout aux assureurs, aux publicités mensongères pour des régimes miracles – alors que ces mêmes industriels empoisonnent les enfants de leurs sucreries, au geste désespéré de la chirurgie bariatrique, considérée comme ultime recours mais intervention ô combien angoissante… « Quels rêves on a, quand on est gros ? » se demande Ignatus. Perdu dans la violence du monde, le personnage touchant finit par trouver sa voie, en comprenant qu’il ne se définit pas uniquement par ce corps.
