Jean Guidoni chante Prévert depuis des années. Mais son Prévert n’est ni le plus attendu ni le plus entendu. « Je suis allé chercher dans Prévert ce qui m’intéressait. Tous les chanteurs ont leur Prévert et chacun peut trouver sa pitance dans son œuvre. Mais les gens connaissent souvent le Prévert des chansons les plus édulcorées, celles dont le discours et la poésie sont jolis, le Prévert de L’Inventaire, de En sortant de l’école, des Feuilles mortes. » Guidoni choisit « un Prévert plus noir, davantage dans la dérision, plus engagé, plus concerné par le contexte social, un Prévert qui dit des choses sombres même s’il les dit avec humour ». Il y a bien des éléments communs entre ce versant-là de l’œuvre du poète et l’univers du chanteur qui considère Prévert comme un frère « déséquilibriste » : « avec Prévert, l’être humain est toujours en déséquilibre entre le bonheur et le malheur, soit socialement, soit amoureusement. Selon lui, le bonheur n’existe pas, n’existent que des petits bonheurs qui aident à vivre. On est tous un peu boiteux. »
Un funambule et un piano
Tout commence en 2008, à l’occasion de l’exposition Prévert – Paris la belle, organisée par Eugénie Bachelot-Prévert qui permit de redécouvrir ce Prévert ignoré, celui du groupe Octobre et des textes virulents contre profiteurs et patrons. « La petite fille de Prévert préparait une exposition, elle m’a téléphoné et demandé si je voulais recréer des chansons. » Le spectacle a été créé en octobre 2009. « Puis Leïla Cukierman m’a proposé de présenter un Prévert destiné à un public plus jeune, ce que je n’avais jamais fait. L’idée m’a séduit. Mais je ne voulais pas édulcorer Prévert ni endormir les enfants. D’abord parce que les adolescents se retrouvent vraiment dans ses mots de colère ; ensuite parce que les situations qu’il décrit n’ont pas changé. Il est incroyable de voir comment certaines chansons écrites dans les années 30 pourraient l’être aujourd’hui. » Ambiance entre le cirque et le cabaret, entre décadence et dérision, mis en scène par Kên Higelin et Néry, accompagné au piano par Fabrice Chapuis-Ravel, Jean Guidoni incarne un Monsieur Loyal qui chante et joue la comédie sur fond d’images projetées. « Travailleurs, attention », comme disait Prévert et bienvenu dans la poussière poétique de la piste !
