Le grand claveciniste spécialiste de Bach nous convie à son rendez-vous annuel au Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord. On ne s’en plaindra pas ! Chacun de ses récitals reste une leçon de musique, de rigueur interprétative et, osons le mot, d’authenticité… « Le terme « authentique » est terrible mais il dit tout de même qu’il existe une version idéale d’une œuvre d’art. En peinture, en architecture ou en sculpture, on peut vraiment dire « ça, c’est la version que l’artiste a voulue ». Cet idéal de ne pas changer l’œuvre d’art, en couleurs ou en formes, est la chose essentielle de ce mouvement de Renaissance baroque. Dans la musique, on s’est mis à étudier les circonstances de l’époque, les possibilités des instruments, l’ornementation, l’articulation, etc… » rappelle Leonhardt, avec modestie mais aussi intransigeance, rappelant volontiers au passage qu’il est selon lui, « absolument impossible de jouer Bach sur un piano moderne ». « Je trouve que c’est une attitude primitive et même égoïste. Ils se fichent de Bach et de l’œuvre. Ils prennent l’œuvre et la jouent à leur manière, même s’ils disent qu’ils jouent de manière dépouillée, sans pédale, avec respect… Ce n’est pas vrai parce qu’ils ne comprennent absolument rien » conclut-il. A bon entendeur… Au programme : des extraits de L’Art de la fugue, la Suite française en do mineur, la Toccata en ré mineur et la Suite en fa mineur. Une leçon de musique, forcément.
