En 2003, le Théâtre National Tunisien accueillait en son sein la toute première école nationale de cirque du pays, cousine des institutions françaises de Rosny et de Châlons qui, par convention, sont devenues des partenaires pédagogiques de ce nouvel établissement. 2008 marque l’année de sortie de piste pour les étudiant de la première promotion, avec, comme il se doit, un spectacle mis en scène par une personnalité extérieure – ici Gilles Baron qui, dix ans auparavant, avait déjà conçu le spectacle de l’école de Rosny. Halfaouïne, du nom du quartier de Tunis qui jadis concentrait l’effervescence culturelle, qui aujourd’hui accueille l’école, est le titre de ce premier spectacle. Les dix jeunes artistes, en évoquant ces sources, portent ainsi une Histoire, mais aussi des légendes, et toute une fantasmagorie qui nous rapproche du conte. Suspendus entre ciel et terre, ils nous racontent quelque chose d’un voyage et d’une rencontre entre le rêve et la réalité.
