Ce n’est d’ailleurs pas tant l’idée de « faire » le spectacle, mais de le « vivre » ! Happy Manif fait partie de ces projets que l’on pourrait qualifier de participatifs, car il met en jeu de façon directe et instantanée le spectateur en tant que participant actif, même si aucune qualité n’est requise au préalable. C’est avant tout un jeu, construit sur des partitions écrites au préalable par le chorégraphe, et qui se matérialisent dans une série d’actes à effectuer, puisant leur inspiration dans le concret d’une consigne gestuelle ou dans un imaginaire lié au cinéma, à l’histoire, à la littérature… Ici, c’est à la recherche de notre idéal masculin ou féminin que l’on se lance, le tout transmis par une bande sonore, que chacun écoute via un casque. Ainsi équipé, le spectateur déambule aux abords du Grenier à Sel, et devient l’exécutant d’une étrange danse, créée in situ et dans l’instant. Bien sûr, tout le monde n’a pas les mêmes instructions, ce qui peut donner lieu à des moments complexes ou cocasses. Happy Manif laisse chacun libre d’interpréter, libre surtout de s’amuser, tandis que le passant se réjouira de cette bande de manifestants pas comme les autres.
