Depuis leur première rencontre presque par hasard en 2012, le pianiste cubain Harold Lopez Nussa et le bassiste sénégalais Alune Wade ont noué un lien musical et humain très proche, dont témoignait déjà leur premier opus en commun « Havana-Paris-Dakar » en 2015 avant le récent « El Viaje ». Un nouvel album que Harold López-Nussa a choisi d’enregistrer à La Havane, dans la formule du trio qui lui sied si bien, si propice à sa quête d’un jazz total ancré dans ses racines cubaines, avec son jeune frère Adrián Ruy López-Nussa à la batterie et aux percussions. Un périple de rêve et de groove. « A chaque fois que nous commençons à jouer, nous partons dans une sorte de voyage irréel » confie le pianiste. Si l’on connaît bien Harold Lopez Nussa, la deuxième partie de ce concert sera pour beaucoup une découverte, celle du percussionniste cubain qui fait chavirer les scènes new-yorkaises : Pedrito Martinez. Longtemps camouflé dans l’ombre de Bruce Springsteen, Meshell Ndegeocello ou Sting, le talent du percussionniste-chanteur éclate désormais au grand jour et sous son nom à la tête d’un quartette de grande classe. Du Latin Jazz survolté, revigoré et revigorant, ouvert aux quatre vents, de la Soul au Rock. La révélation de Banlieues Bleues 2017 ?
