Il se tient là, comme désœuvré dans cet appartement miniature, le corps trop grand et l’esprit trop large pour pouvoir faire de cet environnement le sien. Son malaise, il le contient d’abord, et c’est par le souffle que Vincent Dupont va réussir à le faire sortir. Un travail très précis sur sa respiration, relayé par un dispositif sonore qui l’amplifie jusqu’à saturation. Et c’est un homme pour ainsi dire rampant qui se traîne devant nous, quand un son presque venu d’outre-tombe se fait percevoir. Chacune de ses expirations devient comme un grognement, un gémissement, puis une plainte, pour finir en véritable éructation. Au fur et à mesure, le grondement résonne, la tension se fait palpable, l’énergie contenue semble vouloir s’extirper de ce corps, laissant flotter la rumeur d’une horreur à venir.
La violence comme exutoire
Tournant autour de la table du salon, Vincent Dupont a vite fait de chercher comment fuir ce décor que sa présence écrase sans le vouloir : une perspective savamment trafiquée qui ne fait qu’amplifier le sentiment de perte de repères, aussi bien pour le spectateur que pour l’homme aux prises avec cet espace étrange et étranger. Il l’expérimente d’abord, glisse son corps sur la table, enfonce son visage dans le tableau… nul échappatoire pourtant : sourde et réprimée, bien qu’excessivement forte et vibrante chez le public, la révolte se concentre dans un cri ultime, une rage qu’il parvient enfin à expulser. Exit la finesse et le ressenti, le voilà qui sort l’artillerie lourde : scie et tronçonneuse sont les instruments de torture qui viendront faire voler en éclats la pression qui opère depuis le début du spectacle. La violence et la destruction deviennent l’exutoire suprême et nécessaire en réponse à l’oppression du monde. Une vision terrifiante mais libératrice pour le spectateur, secoué dans le fond comme dans la forme par le voyage dans ces Hauts Cris.
