Les marionnettes de l’Allemand Tibo Gebert se déplacent, ou plutôt errent quelque part entre la vie et la mort. Elles prennent tantôt la forme d’une voyante antique, tantôt celle d’un homme né d’un cocon, « tel un papillon qui ne saurait survivre sans que l’on s’occupe de lui », celle d’un marcheur abasourdi par le froid ou encore du dieu Anubis. La créature de Hero, sa dernière création, se situe comme les autres au seuil du vivant et de l’inanimé. Inspiré du mythe des super-héros, le jeune protagoniste de la pièce évolue avec la lenteur et le silence communs à tous les personnages fabriqués et manipulés par Thomas Gebert, qui signe aussi la mise en scène de ses pièces. Depuis son étrangeté, le protagoniste de Hero questionne notre humanité. « Qui sommes-nous ? Comment se détermine notre identité ? Est-ce notre propre perception et définition de nous-mêmes ? Ou le regard que les autres, la société, portent sur nous ? ».
