La pièce en forme de monologue, d’adresse directe au public, narre l’histoire de Livia, l’italienne. Elle se noie. Dans l’alcool. L’auteure, Sabine Tamisier, récompensée par de nombreux prix, est connue pour avoir écrit une vingtaine de pièces s’adressant à la jeunesse comme aux adultes. Pour ce Lamento de Livia, elle dit « être entrée en empathie et avoir laissé surgir les mots pour trouver un souffle, une énergie, celle d’une femme. » Non sans veiller, ajoute-t-elle, « à faire de cette femme, malgré les heures sombres qu’elle a dû traverser et qui l’ont abîmée, une héroïne ». Seule en scène, la comédienne et metteure en scène Lucile Jourdan, à l’initiative de cette commande de portrait de femme sous emprise, donne corps et voix à cette femme broyée.
