Salué comme interprète – il fut un remarquable danseur du Ballet Preljocaj, de 1992 à 2002 – Sylvain Groud est également connu pour ses nombreux travaux chorégraphiques in situ, qui se réjouissent de faire surgir la danse où on ne l’attend pas, et de la faire résonner avec des pratiques et des espaces a priori éloignés du monde artistique. Un autre de ses chantiers de recherche concerne les relations musique-danse : une relation qu’il envisage d’abord dans sa dimension spatiale. Comment danseurs et musiciens partagent-ils un espace ? Pour Héros ordinaires, le chorégraphe invite Vincent Manac’h, compositeur, et ouvre le plateau à quatre danseurs, quatre chanteurs lyriques et un designer sonore. Tour à tour, les uns et les autres initient un geste ou un son : un concert visuel qui rappelle qu’il est possible de créer à la lisière des arts, non pas « en parallèle » mais ensemble, dans un tressage d’expressions qui rejoue les codes et les limites de chaque discipline.
