Etrange et déroutante micro-société composée de cinq adolescentes dont on ne connaît rien, dont la morne existence dans une sorte d’ermitage est invariablement rythmée par de petits rituels rassurants : chants, jeux, entretien du jardin… Austères, recluses et inaccessibles, elles vivent sous la coupe d’une surveillante. Jusqu’à ce qu’un matin, l’une des jeunes filles entre en béatitude et côtoie la mort, ce qui oblige à aller chercher du secours… chez les hommes. Le policier, le médecin, l’étudiant : trois figures archétypales pour semer le désordre, déclencher trouble, désir, fantasme, arrachement inéluctable au pays de l’enfance. “Le souffle de l’écriture de Virginie Barreteau est singulier, mêle sensualité et rugosité, profond et léger, poésie et baroque”. La compagnie La Mandarine Blanche dirigée par Alain Batis crée ici une théâtralité des contrastes pour saisir le bousculement de deux mondes (hommes/femmes, visible/invisible, intérieur/extérieur, pulsion/raison, etc), le choc aussi des contradictions qui perturbent les êtres. Une matière théâtrale féconde, proche d’un étrange onirisme.
