« Ce solo en dédoublement, dit-il, traduit des voix multiples qui m’ont nourri, m’encombrent, m’empêchent de dormir et débordent des parois de la peau ». En ouvrant non sans humour avec cette Histoire intime d’Elephant Man les portes de l’introspection, l’auteur compositeur, interprète et comédien, dont les performances théâtrales aux textes socio-poétiques ont quelque chose à voir avec le situationnisme, se défend de toute tentative autobiographique. Troubles intimes et sociaux ont partie liée. Alors dans cet autoportrait qui, dans l’intention, n’en est pas vraiment un, Fantazio dit aussi vouloir « donner la parole aux autres en lui. Aux êtres conditionnés mais composites (…), à ceux qui se tiennent toute leur vie à ce que leurs parents projettent sur eux et peinent à s’en dégager. » Il sera seul en scène dans cet « cet abandon des codes, des postures » qui caractérise ses créations iconoclastes.
