Parti trop jeune en 2011 à l’âge de 57 ans, Allain Leprest aura pourtant beaucoup donné, laissant derrière lui environ mille chansons magnifiques. S’il n’a jamais acquis une véritable notoriété grand public, son prodigieux talent d’auteur suscita par contre l’admiration unanime du métier : Claude Nougaro, pour ne citer que lui, qui savait de quoi il parlait, l’a décrit comme « l’un des plus foudroyants auteurs de chansons au ciel de la langue française ». Familier du bonheur d’être chanté par d’autres, Allain Leprest aurait probablement apprécié cet hommage symphonique rendu par Romain Didier, son fidèle ami et complice. Accompagnés par 21 musiciens de l’Orchestre Régional de Normandie, Cyril Mokaiesh, Clarika, Enzo Enzo et bien sûr Romain Didier (par ailleurs auteur des arrangements) revisitent dans ce luxueux écrin instrumental une sélection de quelques-unes des plus belles chansons du « Rimbaud du 20ème siècle » comme l‘évoquait Jean d’Ormesson.
