En 1975, Jean-Louis Barrault accueillait dans son théâtre de la Gare d’Orsay les premiers « Concerts du dimanche matin » organisés par Jeanine Roze, aventure ininterrompue qui s’est ensuite déplacée, suivant le metteur en scène au théâtre du Rond-Point, puis descendant l’avenue Montaigne jusqu’au Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. En hommage à Jean-Louis Barrault, le rendez-vous dominical s’ouvre à tous les arts : danse avec José Martinez sur les « musiques à danser de la Compagnie Renaud-Barrault » le 14 novembre, lecture le 12 décembre avec le comédien Denis Podalydès – qui dans son livre Voix off adresse un hommage à celui qui l’a précédé de plus d’un demi-siècle à la Comédie-Française – et enfin musique le 29 mai avec le pianiste François-René Duchâble dans un programme de Bach à Milhaud en passant par Joseph Kosma.
Nouveaux espaces musicaux
Cependant, s’il est un musicien qu’il fallait associer à cet hommage, c’est bien Pierre Boulez, engagé dès 1946 par Jean-Louis Barrault, qui lui offrira plus tard au Petit Marigny un écrin pour les concerts du Domaine musical. Autre lieu du « pèlerinage Renaud-Barrault », le Théâtre de l’Odéon accueille l’Ensemble intercontemporain le 19 novembre pour Sur Incises de Boulez, merveille de virtuosité, d’invention et de transparence ; le chef y ajoute – théâtre oblige – cette musique de tréteaux qu’est l’Histoire du soldat de Stravinsky avec l’actuel maître du lieu, Olivier Py, en récitant. Dernier clin d’œil enfin le 7 décembre, à la Gare d’Orsay devenue musée, avec la Symphonie fantastique de Berlioz, que Jean-Louis Barrault incarna dans le film de Christian-Jaque.
