Fanny Piquet, au violoncelle, et Guilhem Verger, à l’accordéon, accompagnent Olivier Nunge, passionné de la chanson d’auteur et grand admirateur de Serge Reggiani et de son univers, « qui vous met le vague à l’âme tout en vous revigorant l’esprit ». Pour découvrir la vie de ce fils de coiffeur italien et de l’Emilienne Letizia que « le dégoût des barbelés / du monde écartelé / des voix mussoliniennes » forcèrent à l’exil, il suffit de réécouter ses chansons. Composé par les plus grands (Moustaki, Dabadie, Lemesle, entre autres orfèvres de la chanson française), le répertoire de Reggiani évoque sa vie, entre l’amour des femmes et la pente consolatrice de l’alcool ; une vie semblable à celle de ceux qui, comme lui, « va-t’en savoir pourquoi », s’en sont allés des églantines aux mandarines, par amour de la liberté et de la beauté des choses. Explorant la veine aurifère de cette œuvre majeure, Olivier Nunge choisit les pépites qui, mises ensemble, composent un vibrant et émouvant hommage à l’immortel Manda de Casque d’or.
