Issu d’une histoire mouvementée qui fit de Perm la ville d’accueil du célèbre Kirov durant la deuxième guerre mondiale, le Ballet de l’Opéra National Tchaïkovski de Perm a su s’emparer de cet héritage pour devenir l’une des plus importantes troupes dépositaires de l’esprit des grands classiques russes. Sa venue en France constitue une grande première. Deux programmes, très tournés vers la notion de répertoire, ont été constitués : l’un autour de la figure de Diaghilev (le célèbre impresario des Ballets Russes à Paris est natif de Perm), l’autre en faveur de Balanchine.
Une histoire de styles
Même si ce chorégraphe s’est exilé de Russie pour vivre pleinement sa carrière aux Etats-Unis, son œuvre subsiste sur sa terre grâce au soutien de l’association George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins Trusts. Il est intéressant de voir, aujourd’hui, comment résonne dans ces corps rompus à l’école russe le style balanchinien créé à l’époque pour l’American Ballet Caravan ou par l’école de l’American Ballet. Trois œuvres des années trente à quarante – Serenade, Concerto Barrocco et Ballet Imperial – qui vont de la rupture avec les canons de l’académisme à l’hommage, toujours épuré, à la propre vie de jeune danseur russe du chorégraphe.
