MUSIQUE CONTEMPORAINE
S’opposant aux spéculations du sérialisme et aux expérimentations combinatoires, la « musique spectrale », dont le nom vient d’un article publié par Hugues Dufourt en 1979, revient à la matérialité du son au moment où le minimalisme répétitif américain explore les jeux de sa perception. Avec Vortex Temporum, sur lequel Teresa De Keersmaeker a chorégraphié un ballet en 2013, Les Espaces acoustiques est l’autre œuvre majeure de Gérard Grisey, l’une des figures fondatrices avec Tristan Murail de ce courant qui a trouvé des prolongements avec l’informatique musicale. En six parties (Prologue, Périodes, Partiels, Modulations, Transitoires, Epilogue), le cycle développe l’ensemble du spectre sonore d’une note originelle à l’alto par l’addition de timbres instrumentaux, jusqu’aux dimensions d’un grand orchestre avec quatre cors solistes. Pour ce manifeste immersif, les pupitres de l’Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris rejoignent ceux de l’Intercontemporain, sous la direction de Pierre Bleuse.
