Le ton est donné dès l’ouverture, avec la toute nouvelle création d’Olivier Lefrançois, Prière de Femme. Cette commande a permis la collaboration inédite entre le chorégraphe et le chef-d’œuvre du compositeur contemporain Bernard Cavanna, Messe un jour ordinaire. La pièce donne voix à Laurence, femme en galère, sans logement, dont la dérive et les thématiques de l’abandon et du besoin sont au cœur du travail chorégraphique d’Olivier Lefrançois. Metteur en scène proche du slam et de la musique, D’de Kabal riposte avec huit Femmes de Paroles, huit personnalités du slam, de la danse, ou du rap qui donnent corps à leurs émotions, et surtout à leurs révoltes. Une démarche proche de celle des Membros (voir notre article) qui, avec Medo, interroge la violence faite aux femmes avec toute la physicalité qu’on leur connaît.
De la danse, mais aussi des concerts
Avec la présence des Brésiliens, Hoptimum renouvelle sa fidélité à la compagnie accueillie depuis cinq ans et aujourd’hui visible avec deux créations. Mais le festival propose une autre vision de la danse urbaine brésilienne avec également deux nouvelles pièces de la Compania Urbana de Dança, entre esprit urbain et culture brésilienne. Un esprit urbain venu d’ailleurs, c’est aussi ce que sont venus chercher les Wanted Posse en travaillant avec le sud-africain Jarrel Zenzile sur Konnexion. Déjà confrontés au pantsula dans leur précédent Racines, reste au collectif à trouver sa vraie place en dehors de leurs ressorts habituels de virtuosité et de technicité. Hoptimum n’oublie pas sa formule « bal » qui réunit les danseurs professionnels et les amateurs. Au milieu d’un festival qui prône la tentative d’une parole engagée socialement ou politiquement à travers l’acte artistique, qu’il soit chorégraphique ou musical avec des concerts, les Traversées de Kitsou Dubois et leurs explorations sensorielles du corps flottant semblent un brin décalées.
