Depuis plus de vingt ans, Serge Adam abrite dans sa structure, Quoi de neuf docteur, des projets dont la diversité témoigne de sa curiosité. Ainsi, tout en poursuivant de belles échappées en terrain electro-acoustique, de formidables aventures sur les terres de la libre improvisation, le trompettiste creuse également un sillon des plus fertiles avec le trio Hradčany, formation composée de Philippe Botta (saxophone et ney, la flûte des derviches) et David Venictucci (accordéon). Si leur désir d’innover demeure un des fils d’Ariane, il s’agit avant tout ici de tisser des climats, plus ou moins directement inspirés des mélodies et airs populaires du grand Orient européen. Pour aller vite, on pourrait dire qu’ils délivrent leur version du jazz des Balkans, formule consacrée qui a donné lieu à bien des créations depuis des années. Néanmoins, ce serait sans doute restreindre le champ d’investigation de ces improvisateurs, tant le trio Hradčany défriche depuis dix ans de nombreuses pistes pour élaborer une nouvelle alchimie à partir de cette matière première. Au final, il apparaît bien difficile de délimiter les frontières stylistiques de ce folklore imaginaire aussi festif qu’inventif…. Ce qui, en ces temps de global mix, sonne comme la promesse de beaux songes en ces nuits d’été.
