Musicien multiple par excellence, instrumentiste et compositeur, improvisateur au sein du mythique trio de jazz Aka Moon, le belge Fabrizio Cassol s’empare dans ce projet d’une grande originalité de la musique de Monteverdi pour la tirer vers la musique d’aujourd’hui, mais aussi l’entraîner sur les rives de la Méditerranée. « Il est fort probable que Monteverdi ait puisé dans les trésors de la musique des pourtours de la Méditerranée… » souligne Fabrizio Cassol. Le compositeur a déjà été remarqué pour ses collaborations avec les chorégraphes Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, et peut-être surtout Alain Platel avec qui il a tenté une aventure dans le même esprit pour un Requiem de Mozart revisité par des musiciens africains autodidactes. Il provoque avec I Silenti ce choc des mondes en s’appuyant sur un interprète d’exception, Tcha Limberger, multi-instrumentiste et chanteur, ambassadeur poète et virtuose des folklores tziganes avec pour objectif de « revenir à l’essence populaire originelle du madrigal, pour en retrouver le souffle premier, en puisant dans la richesse de l’authentique et encore vivante tradition orale , ceux-là mêmes qui aujourd’hui sont les sources d’inspiration de Tcha Limberger ».
