Théâtre du Chêne Noir / de Doug Wright / mes Steve Suissa
Charlotte, piégée dans le corps de Lothar, a traversé, habillée comme la femme qu’elle était vraiment, les deux régimes politiques les plus brutaux du XXème siècle. Peu après la chute du mur de Berlin, Doug Wright a entamé une conversation avec Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (Lothar Bergelde à la naissance), travesti élégant et excentrique, qui après avoir tué son père quand il était enfant, a survécu en Allemagne de l’Est, en échappant aux brimades des nazis puis à celles des communistes. Cette histoire vraie a donné naissance à un récit primé dans le monde entier et a été l’occasion d’une adaptation théâtrale (I am my own wife), aujourd’hui mise en scène par Steve Suissa, avec Thierry Lopez sur scène.
Chacun son genre…
Le comédien interprète les différents personnages de cette histoire rocambolesque, recréant ainsi « le puzzle de la vie controversée de cette incroyable Charlotte von Mahlsdorf », qui questionne, « avec ses faux-semblants et ses non-dits », la vérité, l’identité et la liberté. La scénographie recrée une atmosphère confinée semblable à celle d’un cabinet de curiosités, où chaque objet est l’occasion de raconter un épisode de cette fresque où se croisent la petite et la grande histoire, ainsi que l’intime et l’universel. Une leçon de tolérance et d’humanité pour rappeler que chaque sexe peut choisir son genre…
