« Écrire sur le sujet des réfugiés était une nécessité, surtout aujourd’hui, surtout quand on vit dans le Pas-de-Calais », affirme Bruno Lajara. Fondateur de L’Envol, centre d’art et de transformation sociale situé à Arras, il imagine une fable où une petite fille du nom de Nawal tisse des liens entre Alep et Calais. Où la douleur de l’exil est apaisée par la douceur du pays d’accueil. Trouvant dans ce texte poétique un écho à leurs préoccupations, les comédiennes et metteures en scène Céline Dely et Perrine Fovez l’adaptent en confiant le récit à deux personnages de leur cru. Deux pauvres hères sans âge ni sexe définis, abîmés par l’existence. Elles font ainsi de Ici-bas une pièce intergénérationnelle. Une utopie du dialogue non seulement entre les cultures, mais entre tous les êtres.
