« La notion de chanson pour enfants est une chose floue : on a tous écouté enfant des choses qui n’étaient pas censées nous être destiné, et on peut aimer adulte des chansons pour enfant. Les enfants sont un public réceptif, avec beaucoup de défis à relever : ne pas perdre l’auditoire, ne pas trop en faire, ne pas en faire trop peu… Car si l’écriture en soi ne change pas beaucoup, c’est plutôt l’intention qui se modifie. Par définition un public d’enfants ne choisit pas vraiment d’être là, que ce soit avec l’école ou les parents, il vient là où on l’emmène. Il faut donc transformer ce public un peu captif en un public captivé !
Histoire d’amitié
Icibalao est un spectacle de chansons contées. Je dirais même une petite comédie musicale, voire un petit opéra ! Ce sont les chansons qui ont fait l’histoire, et non l’inverse. C’est une histoire d’amitié entre deux enfants de 11 ans qui affrontent pour l’une la maladie, pour l’autre la timidité, et qui se réfugient dans leur « Icibalao ». Nous serons trois musiciens sur scène, tous un peu chanteurs, avec Delbi à la batterie, une batterie fine qui n’assomme pas, et Pierre Marescaux au trombone. Tous deux sont omniprésents, jouent, chantent, bruitent, habillent et soutiennent la trame. »
