Il y a soixante-dix ans, Idil Biret faisait ses débuts à Paris. Elle venait de Turquie, avait 8 ans, était une enfant prodige et enregistrait, pour les micros de la Radio Télévision française – tenez-vous bien ! -, la Fantaisie chromatique et fugue de Bach, ce qui est à peine concevable, et le Troisième Prélude et Fugue du Livre I du Clavier bien tempéré. Nadia Boulanger, Alfred Cortot, Wilhelm Kempff, puis Arthur Rubinstein l’écoutèrent émerveillés, la firent travailler et veillèrent sur les débuts d’une carrière qui, dès 1957, conduisit cette musicienne dans le monde entier, avec les plus grands orchestres et les plus grands chefs. Pour son unique récital parisien, Idil Biret, en plus des deux Bach de ses débuts, a programmé la Fantaisie op. 17 de Schumann, la Deuxième Sonate de Prokofiev et trois études de Ligeti ! Car cette artiste est d’une insatiable curiosité, dont témoigne une discographie imposante allant de Bach à Boulez en passant par Ligeti, Hindemith et bien sûr Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms ou Beethoven.
