Dans son exploration très étrange et distordue du monde, il fallait bien que Toméo Vergès s’attarde sur la figure de l’idiot. Idiot qui, dans ses multiples sens, peut tout autant relever de l’unique, du particulier, du sot, ou de l’inculte. Chorégraphe d’univers étranges et chargés émotionnellement, parfois exubérant dans la forme et proche du théâtre ou de la culture cinématographique, Toméo Vergès demande à chacun de ses interprètes (et à lui-même) d’interroger sa propre idiotie. Une porte d’entrée grande ouverte pour laisser venir l’absurde, le clown, le tragique comme le comique, le réel comme le virtuel. Un jeu d’opposition pour mieux dépeindre les individus dans ce qu’ils ont de plus drôle et de plus effrayant. Véritable bâtisseur d’imaginaires débridés, le chorégraphe construit ses mondes à l’aune de situations quotidiennes qu’il décortique et laisse glisser vers le spectaculaire. Ici, l’on se demandera, dans ce grand théâtre du monde, à quels idiots on nous renvoie.
